One-Minute Devotionals reveal in a single sentence, underlying truth about specific Scripture.

John came to you and showed you the way that God wants you to live, but you didn’t believe him. The tax collectors and prostitutes believed him. But even after you had seen that, you didn’t change your minds and believe him.
Mt 21:32

Live it
Six days a week I either fabricate/install steel security doors or repair residential wooden doors that have been damaged by a break-in. You shouldn't be surprised then to learn I spend most of my time in bad neighborhoods. Also, my body is also constantly in a state of healing from burns, smashes, slice and dice sharp tools, standing on ladders and falling.

But God is my Ebenezer. He's brought me to this point and protected this old body from permanent damage time and time again. Somewhat like Caleb I want that mountain, but it's because my rent money is up there and not necessarily because my faith is great.

A few weeks ago, I was carrying a door to the front of a house and tripped in the front yard over a pvc access unit barely sticking above the ground. I started falling, dropped the door and fell face down on the front concrete walk. My left knee hit the surface and I knew it was bad, but I got up and completed the job. I had difficulty working for a few days, but my knee was getting better when I got another call to install two more doors. As I arrived at the job, I seriously considered turning around. The six wooden steps leading to the front and side doors didn't look like they would hold the weight of a door, much less me. But I carefully did the work on the steps in worst shape and then rejoiced when it was done. I picked up the door and confidently carried the metal door up the front steps and you guessed it. When I got to the top I fell - all the way down with the door, hitting the driveway facedown on the same knee and all but destroying the door. I laugh about it now, but there's something to said about trust and confidence. It's not always apparent which circumstance requires the most of it.

Pray it
I can't begin to name all the close encounters You brought me through, but they all serve to build my confidence in Your grace. My Rock, my Shelter and Refuge. You Lord, are my all in all.
