One-Minute Devotionals reveal in a single sentence, underlying truth about specific Scripture.

He sent his servants to those who had been invited to the wedding, but they refused to come. He sent other servants to tell the people who had been invited, ‘I’ve prepared dinner. My bulls and fattened calves have been butchered. Everything is ready. Come to the wedding!’
Mt 22:3-4

Live it
Recently I was called to give an estimate for lock repair, but when I arrived at the residence and knocked on the front door, no one answered. I was a little frustrated, because people who change their mind never call back to cancel. So I walked back to my truck parked on the street and just as I opened the door, I saw someone peeking out the front window of the house. She then opened her front door and asked me to come back and look at her lock. But, I couldn't give her what she needed that day, so I wrote the estimate on a business card, told her I would come back if she wanted it and drove off.

A couple of days later, probably after shopping around for a better price, the customer called and haggled over the price and then asked me to do the job. She then instructed me to call before coming, which I thought was a grand idea. But when I did, she didn't answer the phone, but instead I got her voicemail, "I’ve made many changes in my life. If I don’t call you back, you are one of those changes!" I couldn't help but laugh, and wrote the whole experience off as a waste of time, because I had to come to distrust her as much as she obviously distrusted me. You should know I've learned that trust is a two way street. But when one party is not willing to act on it, it should send a clear warning message to the other. By the way, I provided the work for the customer and I did accept her personal check, but I didn't spend it until I was certain it cleared the bank.

Pray it
I wonder how often you have reason to distrust me? No matter how great the benefit, I look for a short-cut, ask for more, waste provision and whine when I don't get my way. But You, O Lord, have never failed me, never criticized me or abandoned me. Teach me to have the same attitude, not only toward You but toward those whom You tell me to pray for.
