But now, sons, listen to me, and do not turn away from what I say to you. Stay far away from her. Do not even go near her door.
Pr 5:7-8

One-Minute Devotionals reveal in a single sentence, underlying truth about specific Scripture.

Sin is not measured by proximity, but by consideration. 3231

Live it
Someone said opportunity may knock only once, but temptation leans on the doorbell. How appropriate. Graphic representation of illicit sex used to be concealed behind a convenience store counter, sometimes even covered with a brown paper wrapper so young eyes couldn't inadvertently catch a glimpse. Now worse images are everywhere, flooding prime time television, magazines, newspapers, billboards, and most of all across the Internet via private interaction. And it's getting worse, if you can imagine that. It used to be that we parents could teach our children the right thing to do without blatant competition from the promoters of the wrong thing to do. Sadly, most children are taught by every authority figure that the wrong thing is acceptable. And seldom, if ever, do they hear the right thing to do without finding contradiction in the life of the one teaching them.

I loved what the missionary kid said in an interview at church last week. The interviewer asked, "So tell me, what's it like being a child of a missionary and living in a foreign country?" Without hesitation, she responded, "It's safer over there. I can walk to the store by myself." Most of us who heard her words may have been a little shocked. That is until we realized the sad truth. We've sent missionaries all around the world for a long time to witness to the lost and dying, but it appears we've failed to do the same in our own country. It appears Christians living in those countries now need to come to America and witness to us.

Pray it
Thank You Father that Your message of grace and forgiveness is stronger than the enemy's message of hate and revenge. Thank You for speaking that message to me and to so many in this country. Help us to realize the danger that's been created on our watch, and give us a spirit of urgency to stop the bleeding in our own homes.
