Live it..
I try to use a diverse and challenging vocabulary when I'm around my grand kids. That was the case the other night at a family gathering. My wife, her cousin, two of my children, three grand kids and I sat together around a large round table. I was amazed to hear the "big" words coming out of the mouth of the youngest at the table. So I said of her, "Lydia is waxing eloquent, isn’t she?” Everyone but my wife looked at me with a blank stare. Then Lydia spoke up and said, “What are you talking about Granddaddy? I didn't say anything about elephants!”
I thought a lot about that night and have come to the conclusion I'm like everyone who sat at that table. I hear God speaking and am either unimpressed, don't listen, or listen but fail to understand. Then, if I ever have the audacity to inquire about it, I speak off-subject as if He never said anything of substance. In that spirit, I wonder how many 'Bama fans got lured into reading this and don't understand the analogy? |
