Live it..
January 1, 2000 was another day that will live in infamy. One of the largest corporations in America used fear of the unknown as a means to drive sales for hardware which is turn increased sales of their software. People were so paranoid concerning the new year, they feared anything that required computer software to run it. What most competent people in the industry knew however, was that it was all a huge ploy. However, their calming words fell on deaf ears. Instead, we all watched people everywhere invest in new computer gear and software they didn't need in order to get ready for Y2K. Their reason? To be safe rather than sorry. Then, when the day finally arrived, some didn't even turn their new systems on, but listened to hear what kind of disaster they averted. Quite simply, it never happened, because it was all made up. And Americans bought it - hook, line and stinker (no misspelling).

You might say that the computer retail channel rode the "wave" in 1999 and made a killing selling expensive hardware and software to people who didn't need it. That's because they were going to buy it somewhere if they didn't get it from them. After the dust cleared the first weeks of the new year, those who did the fear mongering had no explanation for why nothing happened, except to suggest the precautions must have prevented the disaster. That's the way it is with fear, it always seems more dangerous at the beginning, than it does later when it's revealed it had no teeth.

Help me learn to view danger from Your perspective Father, and not mine.
