The hardest thing is to be in control, but never quite have it. 3293

Live it..
Forgive me if I don't tell the story right, but I was still wet behind the ears when I heard it. (What does wet behind the ears mean anyway? Oh well, stay on point, Jim.) Leroy was expected to be the greatest running back to ever play for the university football team, but he never quite lived up to his potential. (Pause... It feels like I'm creating a new story by mistelling the old one.. Oh well...) As the season progressed, Leroy got less and less playing time until the last game of the season. Leroy didn't even play against the team's arch-rival, but watched his teammates get pummeled from his position at the end of the bench. The home crowd moaned louder and louder each time the huge defensive line crushed another one of their running backs. Leroy watched in fear as each one of his fellow running backs was carried off the field in a stretcher.
With only one player left to play in his position, a strange thing happened. The crowd started chanting, "Give Leroy the ball, give Leroy the ball." It seemed the home team crowd found something to give them hope and his name was Leroy. The coach looked down the bench at him, but Leroy shook his head hoping the final horn would preempt the inevitable. Then it came; not the horn, but the coaches' stern voice. "Leroy, you're in." With weak knees and trembling voice Leroy approached the coach and whispered in his ear. The other players heard the coach reply back, "And what would you have me say to them," pointing at the screaming crowd. Leroy then turned and faced the crowd and with arms outstretched, shouted back, "Leroy don't want the ball; Leroy don't want the ball!" Now that's all the story I don't remember, but I can think of a fitting closing statement and that is, "Don't sit on the bench if you aren't willing to play." Whew...
Pray it
I'm willing Lord; help my trembling knees and weak arms.
