One-Minute Devotionals reveal in a single sentence, underlying truth about specific Scripture.

Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples,“The scribes and the Pharisees teach with Moses’ authority. So be careful to do everything they tell you. But don’t follow their example, because they don’t practice what they preach."
Mt 23:1-3

Live it..
One of my favorite preachers of all time is Peter Lord, former pastor of First Baptist Church, Titusville, Florida. Just yesterday I did quick research and found him still influencing people for the Lord as he nears 80 years of age. I still remember the crew who rocked churches in the seventies and eighties. I'm not speaking of music, but the Holy Spirit shaking up things under their ministry. In the group was Peter, Manley Beasley, Ron Dunn and Jack Taylor, with Bill Stafford and Junior Hill who came later. Their teaching and preaching ministry affected more people than you can imagine, including me, if even from a distance.

Peter said many things, but what I remember most was, "What you do is what you believe, everything else is just religious talk." He was right on, because the one thing we Christians have in common is a lot of talk, and little demonstration. I never realized how much we were alike until I read some of the things family and friends said about him. His 2959 prayer journal influenced me years ago and probably played a part in shaping who I am today. I also understand him to have said if he had regrets, it was spending so much time preaching and so little time discipling people who would make a difference. Will we ever learn what God is trying to teach us about revival? It doesn't come from preaching, patterns or promises, but by holy relationships, first with the Lord, then your wife, if you're married, and then someone whom you're discipling.

Pray it
It all seems rather overwhelming until I remember You promised I would never have a burden so heavy You wouldn't help carry it.
