Live it..
Have you ever noticed how something starts off innocently, but then turns into something else the longer you do it? Take going to church for example. I imagine everyone has said at one time or another they just don't feel like it. That's reasonable if you're sick, but most of the time it's just an excuse. But, isn't it curious how an excuse changes into desire, or lack of it, the longer it goes on? Before long you don't need an excuse because you've developed a pattern that without a shock of some sort, will continue unabated.

For example, millions of complacent Americans sat at home on Sunday September 9, 2001, but after Tuesday the 11th, many of those same people couldn't wait until the next Sunday to go to church and pray. Not only that, but prayer meetings broke out spontaneously during the week. For the first time in years, the doors to many churches were left unlocked during the week for people to walk in and pray. Quite a change I'd say.

The anniversary of 911 is less than a month away and we've been blessed for nine years by not experiencing another massive attack on American soil from terrorists. I'd like to say our current apathy and complacency took years to develop. But in fact, it only took months for some, weeks for others. Our new found desire for God snapped back into negligence, much like a rubber band returns to its normal state after being stretched out of shape. As much as I hate to admit it, I'm afraid sin serves a righteous purpose; what else would cause us to run to God?

Pray it
Forgive us for proving it takes wickedness to produce godliness in us.
