One-Minute Devotionals reveal in a single sentence, underlying truth about specific Scripture.

Once more he visited Cana in Galilee, where he had turned the water into wine. And there was a certain royal official whose son lay sick at Capernaum.

Driveby recollection

Live it.
When I hear Tony Hatch's 1964 song “Downtown” on the radio, I'm reminded of a particular night as a youth.  I was parked on Midland in front of a house on my newspaper route to collect money and it was raining—hard.  The thing that impressed this seventeen year-old was the fact I'd just driven my new Studebaker sports car off the car lot. When I'm quiet, I can still hear the wipers moving rhythmically across the windshield accompanied by falling rain on the roof and Petula Clark singing the song.

Anytime I find myself close to my paper route and Marianna Street, I drive down memory lane to the cove where I recently snapped this photo. The guy wire to the left forefront of the picture was home base for hide and seek when I was younger and I was standing on the home plate manhole cover that served as third base for me and my neighborhood buddies. Both crabapple trees are gone from the front yard and the ditch connecting Buntyn and Josephine Streets has long been covered with concrete and grass.  What hasn't changed however, is my memory of the place and the fact I can close my eyes and relive the past anytime I want.  Today, however, is a good day to make memories with people rather places. I can close my eyes, imagine what God can do with them and engage them in conversation about it.

Pray it
Move in me, God, to engage people as Your servant.
