Today's Scripture: "So Moses came and told the people all the words of the Lord and all the judgments. And all the people answered with one voice and said, “All the words which the Lord has said we will do.” Ex 24:3

Every time I hear the word "respect" used to define the "fear" of God, I twinge. Born out of theological language interpretation, it seems every adjective created has been used to make the definition more palatable to men, not God. The fact is, reverential respect does not match the emotion expressed by the Israelites toward God. They felt fear of the consequences that might come by doing or saying anything to offend God. My generation has no fear of God or man. The fear of God should play out in a holy life and immediate confession and repentance of both intentional and incidental sin. Instead what this generation does is believe that only "bad" sin needs occasional confession and the result of that attitude has resulted in a generation of Laodicean-type church members. The church doesn't need revival but resurrection from the dead.
Forgive us, Father, for interpreting You Word to appease rather than convict.
