Today's Scripture: "And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever." Jn 8:35

Slowly opening the blinds this morning, I was not disappointed. Less than two feet away our little hummingbird resident sat on the perch of our feeder filling his belly and resting his wings. I could have watched him for a long time, but I allowed him his private time. A few feet away gloves lay on the ground with furniture upside down like a mini tornado had hit the patio. The exposed wasp nest under the chair reminded me of last night's horror. After stinging my wife several times through her double gloves, she came in the house from the garden, crying in anguish as the pain shot through her hands. Angrily, I went outside and used wasp/hornet spray to take out one wasp and soak his nest, looking for an opportunity to take out the whole clan. Obviously some guests are welcomed at our house but those who cause harm are not.
We didn't know the nest was there, just a couple of feet away from the grill where I spent a lot of time the day before. My wife recalled later that her head almost contacted the nest more than once this weekend as she did her gardening. Obviously, the wasps did us no harm until she swiped her hand too near their home. That's the problem I suppose when you make a home where you don't belong. I'll let you draw the spiritual conclusion.
Thank You, Lord, for an eternal home that I didn't construct.
