Today's Scripture: "A foolish son is a grief to his father, and bitterness to her who bore him." Pr. 17:25

5590. The legacy of lunacy is a child raising a child. JG

See it.

Wax on, wax off

Live it.

As parents, my wife and I are proud of our children but also recognize bad decisions they've made and the burden of consequences they bear. We wish we could choose for them and lighten their load, but know that life is dealing with problems and learning from them. Maturity comes from making corrections and avoiding making the mistakes again. Well, I'm a testimony that maturity, if it comes at all, can take a lifetime, but you never get beyond new challenges and learning opportunities.

It's natural that parents would expect their children to benefit from life experiences and avoid many of the traps and tricks they didn't. It's also natural that parents wish the best for their children. For example, parents with a personal relationship with Jesus desire above all that their children come to know Him the same way. The hope they have for their children extends through this life and beyond. The Bible confirms the fact that not many children become like their godly parents. But it also tells me that good kids can come from a bad home. If we are still breathing, we can make adjustments—with God's help.

Pray it.

God, You alone are my hope and in You alone do I trust.
