Today's Scripture: "Then he came out of the land of the Chaldeans and dwelt in Haran. And from there, when his father was dead, He moved him to this land in which you now dwell." Acts 7:4

Dead weight & Living wait
Home is what we come to appreciate when we're not there. It might be the place were our family dwells, where we keep our stuff or where most our memories were born. I know this: loving home is proportional to the amount of time you're away from it. Many people move away due to marriage, military service or a job and most of us go through the stage where we want to get away only to go home when they're old. I agree with the 1914 composer, Sir Henry Bishop, "Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home."
In Acts, Stephen reminded his listeners that God moved Abraham from his home to give him a better one. It's hard not to draw the parallel to our own situation regardless where we call home. God is moving us, His children, be it ever so slowly or quickly, to our new home in heaven. So in essence we are pilgrims, as the songs says, traveling to a home we've never seen. Our physical bodies will rot and our dwelling place will fade away in the light of our eternal home. [pause] Sorry, I run out of words to describe what Jesus is preparing for me (John 14). That's great, but home will always be where Jesus is, and I don't have to go anywhere to be with Him.
This life is nice, God, but only for the fact You're with me.
