Connection point

Live it.

When I was a child, I grew up in a cove at the end of a down hill road. When I began raising my own family we lived in that same neighborhood and eventually in my childhood home. I still remember the day I tied a rope to the handle of a little red wagon and loaded my little girls in it. Positioned at the top of the hill I went before them and tried to direct them down the asphalt road. The slope did the rest of the job as the connection wasn't strong enough to prevent the front wheels from collapsing. My two larger children were not injured in the fall but I can't say the same for my youngest. She was injured by her sisters falling on her as she was pinned against the road.

The rings on the Ark of the Covenant remind me of that fateful day because the accident would likely have been avoided if I held the wagon handle and not a rope tied to it. Lesson learned, I suppose. But it was not without consequence to someone else. I've found the same to be true in my life. As a follower of Christ, the more appendages I attach to Scripture, the more susceptible to danger I become and those around me.

Pray it.

Help me remember, God, that Sola Scriptura is what survives and not religion.
