Today's Scripture: "You shall make seven lamps for it, and they shall arrange its lamps so that they give light in front of it." Ex 25:37

5662. Something doesn't have to be seen to be heard, but it does to be watched. JG

See it.

Wick it

Live it.

Like most families, we enjoy going out to dinner together. And one of our favorite places is Cracker Barrel, especially when it's cold outside. There you can expect to see a roaring fire in an oversized fireplace, a vegetable food menu and quality consistently enjoyed across America. But what gets more discussion are the many unique things for sale in the lobby, the over-sized checker board, metal objects suspended over your head and the country table setting.

Our discussion last week was the oil lamp and telling stories of our grandparents frequent use of them. The analogies for the oil, lamp, wick and the light it could generate a hundred sermons. But more importantly, just the mention of the lamp and someone started singing (softly), "Give me oil in my lamp, keep me burning..." and all the adults joined in. Our granddaughter tried to hide her face in embarrassment, but we were sitting by the light source and everyone could clearly see her reaction and our pleasure.

Pray it.

Thank You for the Bible, God, for showing me what men did, how You responded and what You expect of me.
