Today's Scripture: "Then Joseph sent and called his father Jacob and all his relatives to him, seventy-five people." Acts 7:14
5668. Spending time with family should be preparation for heaven. JG
I loved hearing someone in church say, "The only things on earth that are eternal are the word of God and people." That being true, people should be our sole purpose on earth and not things. Everyone is born into a family with a blood line that can be traced back through their parents. But we who are the seed of Abraham (Gal 3:28) can trace the church family through the blood of Jesus Christ. That brings up the question of how families function.
In some ways I am closer to my brothers and sisters in Christ than my own extended family. I spend time each week with my church family but may only see my siblings at Christmas and may never see their children except on-line or at the mall. Teaching about relationships, I often say the sure path to divorce is to stop talking to your mate. But someone in love will find time to spend and look for ways to spend more. The question we must face today is where are we are investing our time.
I miss our time together, Lord, and relish the thought of having more.
