Today's Scripture: "His parents said these things because they feared the Jews, for the Jews had agreed already that if anyone confessed that He was Christ, he would be put out of the synagogue." Jn 9:22

See it.

Watch what you say

Live it.

A digital recorder has been in my inventory of tools for some time. I've found it efficient to speak into the device as I drive around town and later transcribe the information into my daily journal. But because my schedule has been so fragmented and my time so limited, I've found that the number of saved digital recordings has grown into hundreds of recordings.

Another benefit of making recordings of my journal is the ability to review the way you talk. Yesterday I began converting one of these recordings to begin the outline of a new book (Spiritual Steps). What I found was shocking because I was talking so fast I was using wrong words and skipping parts of sentences. I was also making sounds while talking that was distracting. Now the work begins: I must slow my speech down, listen to every thing I say and evaluate it regularly. I did better last night as I preached and was doing pretty good this morning as I drove my wife to work. Then she asked, "Why are you driving so slowly? This is not a school zone."

Pray it.

Teach me to speak plainly, God, to stay on track and never stop learning to do it better.
