Today's Scripture: "Then they reviled him and said, 'You are His disciple, but we are Moses’ disciples.'" Jn 9:28

I was taken back by a large poster in the entry to a local seminary that read, "Discipleship begins with Evangelism." A proper phrase would have been "Evangelism void of discipleship is a death sentence." It was apparent to me that the school for producing pastor/preachers not so subtly defended itself for its decades of ignorance. It tries to blend the making of disciples into preaching the word thereby justifying itself.
Discipleship begins with presenting the gospel and never ends while evangelism has existed for eons without discipleship. Discipleship is not a class, a program or test, a meeting of like-minded people or an affirmation or pledge. It certainly is not butter to spread on the bread of hardened respondents. A disciple is a disciple-maker, not a preacher only.
Thank you, Lord, for reminding me that making disciples is a life style.
