Today's Scripture: "And for the second side of the tabernacle, the north side, there shall be twenty boards." Ex 26:20

5741. Precedent is replaced with precedent. JG

See it.

Live it.

Behind the scenes of the 2017 Mid-America Passion Play are hours of planning and coordination. For everything seen on stage, there has been discussion, debate and agreement on how it is to be portrayed. That preparation extends to how roles are played on stage and what is worn on the head down to the feet. I've never been a sandal guy, but will wear them this week to satisfy a precedent. I sent a photo of the shoes I wanted to purchase to my wife before showing them to someone in authority. My qualms were settled when I noticed those same sandals on Jesus's feet.

If it seems my recent devotionals are centered on the upcoming passion play, that's because most of my time is being spent in preparation for that. On the other side of the play, things will return to normal, if you can call my life that. The devotional precedent I set for myself was to daily pay attention to everything around me looking for a Scriptural lesson to link to an appropriate verse. Today it's not talk about shoes, but following instruction and conforming to specification.

Pray it.

God, I want to make Your word and way my only precedent.
