Today's Scripture: "Let their way be dark and slippery, and let the angel of the Lord pursue them." Ps 35:6

Don't look up
The Cracker Barrel chain of restaurants is a favorite place of mine and travelers in general. That's because from sea to shining sea, the menu is constant as are the recipes and dining environment. But the last time I sat down to enjoy a quiet meal with my family, I made the mistake of looking up to find a steel plow suspended from the ceiling over our table.
I appreciate restaurant decorations, but it was unnerving to think of all the ways farming implements could come loose and fall on our heads. It's not like our city has never had earthquakes, historic straight line winds or tornadoes to turn decorations into flying weapons. I'm reminded this morning that's what's it must be like alienating God. Life is good and can make you arrogant until life shakes under your feet, things fall on your head and you think it was an accident.
My confidence is in You, God, and I seek no hope but Your word.
