Say "Saturday morning on PBS," and most everyone knows that's when you learn how things work and craftsmen step in front of the camera to show their wares. For inspired viewers, the dream of having a shop full of machines and materials is a lofty one. For their spouses, there are dreams of a husband who will get up from the easy chair and do anything.
It's amazing to me that the builders of Israel did intricate work in the middle of the desert without a shop or the tools they had in Egypt. No doubt the articles made under harsh conditions were even more valuable to later generations who had the right tools and conditions. Isn't that the way it is in life? In our world of "Use it and throw it way," someone who produces something valuable and reusable is not only inspirational but distinctive.
Help me, Lord, be a workman who provides for himself and others.
