Today's Scripture: Most assuredly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. Jn 10:1

See it.

Work around

Live it.

The first thing I counsel a new disciple to do is to pay attention. That's sounds elementary and something that everyone does but when a test is given, most people flunk the test. For example, close your eyes and describe the color or pattern of the walls in the room in which you sit. Describe the pictures hanging on the wall and what's pictured in them. Is there chair rail and which way does the grain on the wood flooring run. It's natural to only focus on what you're doing and not taking notice of other things around you. Also, have you noticed the difference in what you see from a passenger seat versus the driver's seat? That's a good thing, by the way.

Focus is self-determined and most of the time our focus is lazy. D4 is the book I find most useful in teaching disciples because it begins by pointing out that neglect is the first step in a spiritual slide. Obviously, paying attention and taking appropriate action is the right thing to do. For example, sitting in church or a classroom I open my eyes to what I'm not inclined to notice. The first day in Sunday school I noticed the panic bar on the classroom door was either an after-thought or the wrong door pattern was chosen. I submit that the way you pay attention in general exposes your regard or lack of regard for Scripture.

Pray it.

The closer I look for bottom in your word, God, the deeper it gets.
