Today's Scripture: "The poor man uses entreaties, but the rich answers roughly." Pr. 18:23

5775. It’s amazing how some people change the subject when they don't like the question. JG

See it.

First desponders

Live it.

I was asked this week to explain my belief that I have the gift of prophecy. The man who asked me had experience with a self-proclaimed prophet who gave him advice and predictions. It may have been founded in biblical truth or not, but it had nothing to do with the church and/or ministry. I explained that I was not that kind of prophet but was kind in my response. My desire is to speak God's word with clarity and uncompromising truth allowing the Spirit to use it as He wishes.

Born with a natural tendency to be assertive and responsive to a lesser degree, the Holy Spirit entered my life and supercharged that tendency in order to serve the church (Romans 12, 1 Cor. 12). Having said that, I'm careful judging anyone who says they speak for God. I'm reminded of the Old Testament test for prophets that required their life for any wrong prophecy. It's not my job to argue with false prophets or defend God's word. As for me, I speak for God through His word and the Holy Spirit living in me. What's different between me and them is the fact I submit to biblical reproof and correction if I get it wrong (II Tim. 3:16-17).

Pray it.

It's my privilege, Lord, to use Your word to teach whoever will hear it.
