It's interesting that many of the tabernacle components were acacia wood overlaid with gold. At first it seems the reason might have been to keep the costs down, but more likely it was something else. It maintained a weight that men could lift and carry over hundreds of miles of rock, dirt and sand in arid temperatures.

My wife made a simple request a few years ago to replace the three large crepe myrtles around the mailbox with a simple bed of flowers. Today the results (above) speak for themselves. But the pretty bed doesn't accurately speak of the invested cost. They required hours of labor and paying for professional services to remove the trees and buying expensive fertilizers and such. But there is no way to remove all the large invasive roots under the bed and yard. The roots will forever exist under ground with sprigs of life bursting though the top soil to find the sun. All you can do is cut them down when they pop up. That's like the sinful nature and the futile attempt to cover it with morality and good works. It takes obedience and the power of the Holy Spirit to put sin down and keep it down.

Pray it.

Thank You, Holy Spirit, for Your faithfulness and tenacity in my life.
