Today's Scripture:"Then Jesus said to them again, 'Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.'" Jn 10:7
5792. Compliance is not obedience. JG
Too many times parents will countdown expecting their disobedient children to change what they're doing before reaching zero. Believe it or not, they consider that to be a discipline better than showing immediate consequences for wrong doing. First extending time to continue doing wrong is not discipline but teaching disobedience. Secondly, it's harmful to rob children of consequences that can teach obedience.
"Verily, verily I say unto thee" are words most remember from growing up with the old King James version Bible (KJV). The new King James (NKJV) replaces this phrase with "most assuredly" and implies that some are not hearing and others are hearing but not listening. Some might say Jesus was counting down, but what he said was too important for casual listeners to miss. Excuse me, are you listening? This is important: Jesus is the door, the only door, through which we can get into the kingdom.
Forgive me, God, for being slow to hear and slower to apply Your word.
