Today's Scripture: "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." Jn 10:10

5801. Abundant life is spending time with God before you're dead. JG

See it.

More or less

Live it.

Life—what defines relativity and defies understanding. No doubt the ability today to breathe. communicate and be mobile is precious. But few recognize those gifts as God given. Our generation is driven by the idea that personal choice is inherent to life, but without the ability to manufacture and sustain it we refute ourselves. Job has a simple response to man's vain claim of indisputable autonomy: "What God gave, He will take away (Job 1:21)."

In my experience, giving back in love that which I was given brings about a certain enjoyment, even confidence. Obviously, only rarely can someone give his life for someone else, something Christ showed undeserving mankind (John 3:16). But most of the time, it's in helping someone and incorporating them into your life, that you find pleasure and make eternal investment. It's in spending time with God in meditation and prayer, however, that we realize that our brief time on earth is where we prepare for life in heaven.

Pray it.

Thank you, Lord, for another day to spend with You and think about home.
