Today's Scripture: "And you shall command the children of Israel that they bring you pure oil of pressed olives for the light, to cause the lamp to burn continually." Ex 27:20

Continuation negation

Live it.

Knowing how the story ends, I think the Israelites should have paid more attention to God and less to the burning lamp. The flame that was to never go out did and those who heard the command died in a desert of disbelief. The only thing to survive the rigorous journey was religious activity and specificity added to the Law by the ones who couldn't keep it.

Oil burning lamps are just one thing that will make a come back as survivalists seek power and transportation by means other than electrical sources. With all the threats of an HEMP, or high-altitude electromagnetic pulse device, being deployed in the atmosphere over America, our power grid could theoretically be neutralized. Instead of worrying over accommodations, we'd best take heed to God's dealing with Israel. Their attention-getter was a never-ending desert that took their lives. Ours could be a powerless and godless country weeping over what we had and let get away.

Pray it.

Praise God that the Light of the world doesn't operate on man-made batteries.
