With any catastrophe comes rescue followed by recovery. Having lost all possessions, those ravaged by tropical storms like Harvey or Katrina, now need clean, dry clothes and soup to begin their comeback. Style is no consequence as recipients are grateful to have anything. What a difference a few hours can make. On one side of trouble is independence, plenty and plans. Only time would reveal the glory of God's people. In the desert there was suffering and survival, but in Canaan there was the obvious presence of Almighty God on the side of former slaves. I remember floods in my neighborhood caused by blocked sewers. Heavy rains had nowhere to drain off and water rose up to the waist at the entrance of the subdivision. Our family was blessed by living in rental house with a door threshold an inch above the water line. What was discomfort for our family proved disaster for our neighbors. I can't tell you how many times in my life God's grace has covered me by an inch. I know this, an inch is a mile in terms of God's grace.
