Today's Scripture: "Listen to counsel and receive instruction, that you may be wise in your latter days." Pr. 19:20

Do you hear what I hear?
I enjoyed sitting outside my back door this morning and listening to the silence. What I didn't hear was television playing the most outlandish opinions, loud radio playing what this generation calls music or irritating and unintelligible gibberish on a phone while people around are trying to enjoy a quiet dinner. There were no sirens, gunshots in the distance, screams of angry protesters, angry motorists in fancy cars forcing their way through dense traffic. It was just birds rustling the limbs, the buzz of hummingbirds and the distant sound of other people enjoying a Saturday morning working in their yard.
Tennessee Ernie called it, "Another day older and deeper in debt." One half of his statement is true in my life but thank God, my only debt is to Him not to someone else for living above my means. Today is a good day for listening to what most people ignore: the sound of the Creator usually lost in creation, the voice of wisdom and reason between the lines of Scripture and the call of God which is not linked to a physical space. It's called meditation and doesn't require training, only a psalmist paying attention and being quiet.
Lord, You are too beautiful for words, too awesome to contain and too precious to miss.
