Today's Scripture: "You shall make the breastplate of judgment. Artistically woven according to the workmanship of the ephod you shall make it: of gold, blue, purple, and scarlet thread, and fine woven linen, you shall make it." Ex 28:15

Tuesday nights are unusual at our house because the family meets for a late dinner after my preaching session. Last night was more unusual because four of us arrived at our destination at different times in four different vehicles. Arriving first, I sat and waited and couldn't help but notice the only other person in the room was a man with balloons on his head. As the conversation ensued, Mike smiled (he hardly stopped) and told me about his profession of thirteen years. As people left and walked past us to the exit, Mike would tell them goodbye and then tell me something about them he could only know after spending time with them. There is one happy man making other people happy and no plans to stop doing it.
As I later pondered my time with Mike, I realized I may not see him again. But I know more about him than I do about most people in church with whom I shall spend eternity. Effectively, in a matter of minutes he made a friend of me and I look forward to seeing him again. Mike cares more about me more than most of my church "friends." That's sad because the church should be setting that example for people like Mike.
Teach us, Lord, the importance of spending more time with You than anyone else.
