Today's Scripture: "A lazy man buries his hand in the bowl, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again." Pr. 19:24

5969. Laziness is a spiritual problem that leads to physical problems. JG

See it.

While you wait

Live it.

Three years ago I self-published a novel but never promoted it. It was not laziness that led me to forget it and move on, but frustration and a sense of futility. Recently, however, in recent conversation over eschatology with some new friends at lunch, I dug out the book and later gave it to them to read. The copy I gave them contained red editing marks littering every page. I remember acquiring a genuine hatred for red ink back then, but most all the grammatical corrections were justified. This author suffered the agonizing truth that ever writer needs a typographer's help. My friends greatly encouraged me to promote the book which I am going to do.

Futility can cause people to appear lazy when in fact they give up and dismiss criticism as troublesome noise. My book is an indirect way of exposing someone to the truth that being unprepared is not only lazy but a sin. How so? Game Over fosters the idea of having a "bug-out" bag ready for disaster or running. Scripture says in the Last Days people will run for the hills to escape. Not from persecution, but from forced compliance, taking a mark from a government for loyalty purposes and global positioning to track your every move. Worst, however, might be the interrogation that leads to you compromising your church and your friends. The world laughs at the idea. What about you?

Pray it.

Forgive me, Lord, for sleeping while You are praying for me not to sleep.
