Today's Scripture: "Cease listening to instruction, my son, and you will stray from the words of knowledge." Pr. 19:27

5990. Instruction is as good as the one offering it. JG

See it.

Live it.

For the majority of our lives, other people have made decisions for us. We showed up at a certain time to do a certain thing and were paid a certain amount of money. Then we quit or retire and have more time on our hands and a lesser amount of income to do it. We either fill our days with things we want to do and never got to do, or essentially stop doing anything and essentially coast to the end. Ironically, sometimes our body has been so worn down working for someone else, our personal options are limited by our physical condition.

A friend told me this week that he was inspired by the way I work at seventy years of age. I'm inspired that he maintains his job and will drive thousands of miles to support his family. Slightly older than me, my friend and I meet weekly, if possible, to discuss what we're each doing. I report on the weekly progress on all my ministry projects and he encourages me and make suggestions. What he doesn't know is that I am daily tempted to slow down or quit altogether. What he thinks I don't know is his desire to do what I'm doing—with me.

Pray it.

Your word has never been disappointing, God, or failed to inspire me to action.
