Today's Scripture: "And many of the Jews had joined the women around Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother." Jn 11:19
6000. Loss is the sensation of being unprepared. JG
If you live long enough, you get to see many of your friends die. If there is any good side to that, it's going to funeral visitation and seeing many of your friends who have not died and are there to comfort the family with you. I think most would agree having those problems is better than being dead and being the one mourned. Mary and Martha were blessed when Life paid a visit to the tomb of their brother. Most don't think about it, but they would mourn their brother again or be mourned by him if they died first.
I woke to a comforting word yesterday. It came in the form of a message notifying me that all my personal data was successfully backed up to the cloud. Granted, it was not a life and death issue unless my computer dies today and I have no backup. Knowing that data cannot be resurrected, there would be no comforting words for my neglect. If you are not prepared to die, there are no comforting words for you either.
There are no comforting words like Yours, Father, that breathe life to my spirit.
