Today's Scripture: ". . . and they cast him out of the city and stoned him. And the witnesses laid down their clothes at the feet of a young man named Saul. Acts 7:58

Everyone expected Saul of Tarsus to continue the hatred toward followers of Jesus, and he did. But they did not expect him to change again and become the lover of all things Jesus. That's the way it is. Every person who has ever changed radically has come under the influence of someone.
It's natural for us to assume that we can be the element of that change in someone we love. But change is held captive in the heart of the oppressed until they hate what they've become and stop feeding it. Simply stated, any change is temporary unless the new desire is stronger than the old one and we bury it.
Teach us, Lord, to stop hating people and start hating sin.
