6042. What men consider possible is actually limited thinking. JG
The mourners around Mary thought they knew what she was thinking, but they were wrong. She and Martha were mourning, but more concerned why Jesus didn't help their brother like He did strangers. What they would learn was that Jesus' response was correct and timely. They might have been close friends of the King of Kings, but they didn't really know Him. The expectation of everyone else never included Jesus in their equations.
Yesterday my wife and I visited a friend in the nursing home who is nearing death. With my wife out of the room, I heard her whisper that she couldn't make it today but might tomorrow. My wife confirmed having heard similar things from her. It's not surprising she speaks of seeing angels in the room. One day soon we will attend her funeral and hope her heavenly previews were real.
My expectation is in You, God, and not in my imagination.
