What you don't see
Mark Twain said, "When you cannot get a compliment any other way, you compliment yourself." I seldom quote other people, but this one is too good to pass up. It's called self-esteem to think of yourself in a good way and it's unhealthy to do otherwise. But too much of it can lead to being boastful and condescending toward other people. In the end, it's only important what God thinks of you.
When I think of humble greatness, I think of my mom. It's not even Mother's Day but I will use this opportunity to praise her. On a cold night this past week as I was was covered with multiple blankets, I was reminded by my wife who made the afghan on top of the others. I was not surprised to learn it was my Mom's doing. She never sought recognition and never got much in return. But no one was as faithful as her in my opinion. One day this week someone told my wife that there was no mistaking who her daughter was. I pray, that it might be said of me that there is no mistaking my mom and Jesus in me.
I praise You today, God, for what I may not notice but sings of your faithfulness.
