Tagged as the greatest showman on earth, P.T. Barnum was a businessman/promoter remembered for founding the Barnum & Bailey Circus (1871-2017). He understood that without creating interest, there would be no audience to pay to see the show. But without entertaining them, word would get out and tickets couldn't be given away.
Some preachers are like Barnum and their meetings resemble a big-top circus. Like a stand-up comedian, they do all sorts of things to promote themselves. In return they usually have a megachurch following. Jesus, on the other hand, got the attention of a few people, which led to a crowd following Him to see more. He told people what they needed to hear and not what they wanted to hear, sometimes to their own chagrin. So in what crowd are you: a curiosity seeker waiting for a miracle, or a follower looking for a word?
Jesus, Your miracles are impressive but not as much as Your love and Your message.
