These days crowd control is a big issue, but it is even more so in Jerusalem at Passover. That's because with any crowd, there are trouble-makers who require watching and even subduing should they get out of hand. In the First Century, however, it was the Roman authorities who controlled Jerusalem and could also create havoc among the people if they so desired. In two thousand years, aren't you glad things have changed?
