Missionaries


"Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" Rom 10:13-15

 

Give them protection from illness while providing strength and stamina. 1 Pet 3:13

Make them effective and productive witnesses, while strengthening and protecting new believers. 2 Pet 1:5-8

Keep them from discouragement and homesickness as they follow you. Joshua 1:9

Keep them alert - shrewd as snakes and innocent as doves. Ma 10:16-17

Send more workers to the fields. Ma 9:37,38, Gal 6:9

Use them as intercessors for those they serve. Ezek 22:30,31

May they do everything you ask them to do. Acts 13:22b

Create a bond between them and those they serve. Rom 12:10

Give them opportunity to demonstrate your love. Rom 12:21

Convert their willingness to serve into a spiritual fervor. Rom 12:11

Use threats against them to create holy boldness. Acts 4:29

Use hospitality. Create desire to associate with the lowly. Rom 12:16

Live in peace and don't seek revenge. Rom 12:17-19

Give them the spirit of wisdom and revelation. Eph 1:17

Meet all their needs as they serve. Phil 4:19

Help them persevere to the completion of their mission. 2 Thes 3:3-5, 2 Tim 4:7

Teach them the truth of your Word and how to use it for your purpose. 2 Tim 2:15

Keep international missionaries in His comfort as they are away from their families.

Pray that any visa process will be speedy and efficient and for the safety of those who travel.

Furnish biblical materials and literature in order to disciple new Christians. May they clearly and effectively communicate the gospel, touching the hearts of all who read them.

Give Godly wisdom as they train new church leaders/disciples.

Grant discernment in handling problems in new churches/leaders. As missionaries are often seen as authorities and expected to know all the answers.

Build creativity to see and use what they have at the moment to do the work. (Requested materials could take months to arrive in the field.)

Clear communication channels between the missionaries, the church and the new church leaders.

Pray that the people they serve will not be the same after the gospel is preached, that their eyes of understanding will be opened to the gospel - Convict to lead new Christians to get rid of idols in the home. For those who cannot bring themselves to break with the past, ask God to encourage them and lead them to salvation and faith.

That people will catch the vision of home-based congregations. Pray that God will equip local believers in the task of discipleship.

That the Holy Spirit will open eyes to see the Truth. Lead converts to be consistent and bold in witnessing and that they will have the courage to begin leading their own Bible study groups.

For wisdom within restricted-access countries, granting work permits as needed.

That God will send just the right amount of rain, sun, and grant freedom from insect infestation that would threaten the work

That missionaries will learn new languages properly - t That their ears will hear the sounds correctly and that their minds will retain the words and meanings. That the they gain confidence and ability quickly in the language and the culture, and begin building strong friendships among the people

Lead the people to start churches in their village reaching, not only their own people, but surrounding villages as well. Lead core groups to be the beginning of an indigenous church-planting movement among their people group.

Give holy discernment about false doctrines and teachers

Grant discernment to recognize what is merely cultural and what is truly biblical.

Encourage bivocational ministers who must work six days a week, leaving them little time for sermon preparation or their families.

Breakdown Satanic strongholds where new Christians live in idolatrous and superstitious families.

Direct the missionary medical teams to effectively meet the physical and emotional needs of both the patients and their families.

Place them in strategic areas so that many people will hear about Christ.

That God's purpose will be accomplished as they pray "on site with insight" for the people they are called to serve.

Pray for the very poor which have no food, clothes or jobs. This is a real test of their faith, and many are asking why God is not helping them. Pray that God will sustain them and teach them more about Himself through these times.

Pray for peaceful elections in countries where political turmoil reigns.

Pray against obstacles that prevent the missionary and relief effort from progressing.

Pray for new believers who have been threatened. Pray that they will have wisdom as they decide whether to stay in their village or move away.
