The following e-mail was sent to David, forwarded it to Prayertower, and of course posted in the journal: From: mgee[SMTP:mgee@wnm.net] Sunday, October 10, 1999 1:11 PM To: Waters, David Subject: touching heart "Whoever said that one person cannot make a difference. His sons will always be able to feel his love and support thanks to that wonderful online prayerline. Thank goodness ya'lls beautiful and tragic story made the newspaper. It is such a wonderful legacy, that sort of thing usually doesn't make the news. I have lost someone very close and know the suffering. When everything has calmed down and everyone else has gone on with their lives, as is supposed to happen, you will all find comfort in the long dark, lonely night with the prayer line that was started and take comfort in the fact that people you don't know and will probably never meet are comforted in God's love because Robert lived. What an extrordinary legacy for his young boys, and what a wonderfully proud reminder for his parents and wife. One of the fears of terminal patients is of being forgotten, because of Robert's work, that will never happen. Thank you for the courage to share your story." |
