What is PrayerTower?

We are a nondenominational ministry involving people from all walks of life with two things in common:

  • A love for Jesus
  • A desire to obey His command to "pray ALL the time - about ALL things - with ALL kinds of prayer."

Churches use Prayertower to "hold" prayer needs and/or update their membership concerning matters of concern within their church.

If your church wants to begin a ministry in the pattern of PrayerTower, we would love to help. Our desire is to emphasize the importance of prayer within the body of Christ and in assisting others with similar desire, we fulfill our purpose.

If you have no one in your church with the ability and willingness to manage such a task, we can do it for you.

Can my church be added to the website? How much will it cost?

Yes. If you desire to start a PrayerTower ministry within your own church, send your request to WebServant@prayertower.net.

Many services of PrayerTower are provided as a ministry of love. Although you may not pay for it, PrayerTower is not "free". Someone pays for it. By faith, Prayertower receives its support through free will gifts and love offerings.

How does the ministry work?

It is comprised of two basic services:

  • 24hr availability of prayer concerns on the world wide web (www) and
  • Daily updates by e-mail of changes to that list.
If I join, what is my responsibility as a member?

PrayerTower is "a network of believers who pray when they know and minister as they go." Your responsibilities are:

    • Listen to God and obey Him. In doing so, you will pray.
    • If you can meet a need in the life of the one for whom you pray, do it.
    • Let others know you are praying for them.
Why don't I see announcements on the Tower?

Whereas a church web site needs to inform its membership of opportunities, the focus of PrayerTower is PRAYER - it's target audience is PRAY-ERS, or those who pray.

Why does information remain on the list for so long?

Tracking prayer to "completion" requires more space with each new prayer request. We believe that prayer requests should be visible until an answer is received. Requests are stamped with a date and time and organized to give a clear idea of the latest information received.

When an answer is received, the request is taken off the list.

Why maintain information regarding births and deaths of members?

The anniversary of a death is a time where encouragement can be forwarded to those who have lost a loved one. In the same way, congratulations for those celebrating a birthday is a fruitful ministry. This feature is valuable for those desiring to "put feet to their prayers".

I just joined the Tower and see a prayer need but don't know the history. Can I find the original prayer request or read the progress of prayer to date?

Yes. Every update is included in a journal. This day by day listing of updates is cross linked to other days where you can step through each day if you desire. Also, certain ongoing prayer needs are linked across the entire journal in a "Prayer Thread".

This feature allows you to track the progress of prayer quickly and easily by going forward or in reverse through daily updates. .Still, other prayer needs have individual pages dedicated to their situation where the entire history is found on a single page.

Why are some things underlined and in a different color?

This is called a link and a mouse click will take you to a different location. After you have read that information, pressing, "Back" on the linked page will return you to your original position.

How often should I check the list?

If you are a member of the update ministry, you will get the "new" information via e-mail before it's added to the journal. The date/time the update was published is included with each update. (Those not members of the update ministry should check the journal daily.)

Note: Hospital rosters may not be accurate by reason of undisclosed discharge, so be sure to check with the hospital before visiting someone on the list.

How do I post a request on the website?

Send an e-mail to pray4me@prayertower.net stating the request and it will be sent to those on the distribution list.

It will then be added to other requests and posted to the website. Members cannot add a request to the website without sending the request in this manner.
